Duties

Help

At the full performance level Major Duties include:

  • Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day execution of organic social media content published across the FDIC’s social media channels, creating timely, accurate and relevant content for the Corporation’s various audiences.
  • Works with groups/cross-functional teams to understand organizational priorities, goals and objectives, and aligns digital campaigns and projects accordingly.
  • Provides recommendations on new and revised policies and procedures for developing and posting content to FDIC’s digital and social media channels.
  • Coordinates with other Divisions and Offices to gather information and develop responses to comments and questions on social media.
  • Collaborates with FDIC graphic designers, as well as external partners, to develop creative assets for web and social media use.
  • Collects and analyzes appropriate data and metrics, and leveraging industry best practices.
  • Serves as a liaison for OCOM to other Divisions and Offices on projects involving social media.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.  Additional qualifications information can be found here.
To qualify for the CG-09, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 07 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience creating content for social media platforms; and gathering, analyzing, and reporting on social media data.

OR

EDUCATION: Master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a LLB or JD, in a related field.

OR

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the CG-09 level.

To qualify for the CG-11, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 09 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience (1) creating, managing, and publishing content for/on social media platforms; (2) Planning and creating multimedia content using graphic design, photo manipulation and video editing software and techniques; (3) gathering, analyzing, and reporting on social media data.

EDUCATION: To qualify based on education; applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M., if related.

OR

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the CG-11 level.

Additional information

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor’s direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.

The duty location is determined upon selection.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 18.65% to a high of 51.75%.   2. Knowledge of principles, concepts and methods of communication.
  3. Skill in developing content for digital media platforms.
  4. Skill in writing and editing graphics and text through digital publications and presentations.
  5. Knowledge of information dissemination through web-based platforms, including visual communication practices and principles.
  6. Skill in oral communication.
